Also known as reduction mammoplasty, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures: recent data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show that their members performed 33,574 breast reductions in the U.S. in 2020 alone.
During this outpatient procedure, the surgeon removes excess fat, skin, and glandular tissue from the breasts to reduce their size. They also reshape the remaining tissue.
Reducing excess tissue and elevating the breasts on the chest wall improves or completely alleviates many of the physical symptoms associated with disproportionately large breasts.
